Welcome to the New Metamorphosis Blog!
It's a new year and a new website!
As my first post here, I thought I should tell you a little about myself and what this blog is for.
Who the heck are you?
Hi there! My name is Nikki. I've been a writer since I could hold a pen and I've been an author for five years. If you'd like to know about that journey, click HERE.
In addition to that, I've been editing work of friends and colleges for over ten years and started Metamorphosis as a "side passion" as I called it. I truly enjoy helping other writers make their work shine, finding problems and solving them, and being a part of the writing process in a completely new way!
Now, as Metamorphosis enters its official third year of business, I wanted a new way to reach out and help my fellow writer(s).
What will I read on this blog?
There are things I come across in my own writing and others' that you will find me dissecting here.
I'm a writer. I like books. My career is all about books. You may just find a thing or two about what
I'm reading.
I'm a lover of words! Want to know the difference between "accept" and "except"? Want to know when to use "lie", "lay", "lied", "laid"? Things like that are things I completely geek-out over. Fellow grammar nerds, I've got you.
The publishing industry! I've dipped my feet into both pools (the indie pool is much deeper and harder to climb out of but the traditional pool is still part of my life). In the ever-changing world, I feel like this blog would be a good outlet to share my thoughts on what is happening in the publishing community.
Just as the title of the blog says: tips and tricks to becoming a better writer!
Why should I care about your opinion?
Good question. Honestly, I don't think I'm the best-most-knowledgable-writer-editor-super-hero-there-ever-was. I'm just one person and my experiences as a writer and editor have given me my own particular perspective on these things. I also like to do things with a bit of humor, which I think you need when you're in the writing trenches.
So take a look around, read a little, write a little, and feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions!
See you next week!
-Nikki :)
