Perfect Valentine's Gifts for Writers

That dreaded/looked-forward-to holiday is next week and if you're anything like me, you have no clue what to get for the people closest to you. Chances are, if you're following this blog it's because you're a writer, and if that's the case, you probably know other writers and you don't know what to get them for the holiday all about love. Here are just a few ideas I've come up with to help! Just click the pictures to shop! :)

1. For the jewelry lover

Whether it's on Amazon or Etsy, there are a ton of options for the bookish person in your life. To me, something personalized to my tastes is so much better than a dumb diamond heart. From tiny typewriters, to mini versions of their favorite book, to statement pieces declaring their love of words, there are many options to make your loved one feel special.

2. For the writer who is always stuck

If you spend any time around a writer at all, you'll come to find that they maybe aren't so pleasant when they can't get those creative juices flowing (I myself have been known to throw an intimate object or two in frustration). Showing someone you love that you care about their mental state never goes out of style, and writers love books anyway so why not get them one that helps them on their journey? Can't afford a book or aren't sure which they'd prefer? Create a romantic brainstorming night in with candles and chocolate. That's a date I'd have a hard time saying no to!

3. The Shower-Thinker

Nothing is worse than having an idea in a situation where you can't write it down. With the many advances in technology, I was surprised to find waterproof ink and pads you can keep in the shower! No more lost thoughts circling down the drain.

4. The traditionalist

Not all writers are the same, and maybe yours likes to do things the old-fashioned way before they commit to the dreaded blank page on a computer. Feed their need to live in the time before such nonsense by getting them a beautiful leather bound journal and fountain pen or go super-old school and get them a typewriter or quill and ink set! You may not get it, but we LOVE stuff like this even if we do the majority of our work on the computer. Even if it sits on a shelf, your writer will love it. I promise.

5. The cozy Cuddler

Want to show your writer that you know how much they need hugs and snuggle time but you kind of have a life, and a job, and other things to do? A cuddle buddy of their favorite writer and a comfy blanket is the ticket! Or if you think that may be too simple and not a "Valentine's-ey" enough, a cute set of tea and mugs is sure to go over well since we run on caffeine and cute mugs.

That's all for this week! Remember, you don't have to buy your writer something for them to love you--on Valentine's Day or any day. Being in their life is more than enough, but treating them like the special person you see them as is always nice. Hopefully this post gave you a few ideas!

Until next week,

Nikki :)
